Julio Benítez-Torres, Esq. is the Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) with the mission to attract new investment, promote the creation of new jobs and strengthening small and medium enterprises. He is responsible for the strategic implementation of Puerto Rico’s economic development plan, including infrastructure projects and instrumentalities that encompass agencies and public corporations.
Benítez-Torres has more than 20 years of experience in various industries and sectors, including manufacturing and sports, serving as a legal counsel to the Confederation of Professional Baseball Players of the Caribbean. Has been General Legal Advisor and Director of the Business Development area of PRIDCO. Among other functions, he has advised on strategic negotiations of industrial projects, such as Coopervision in Juana Díaz, Honeywell in Moca, General Electric in Arecibo and sales of assets in various towns across the Island.
He holds Juris Doctor form the School of Law of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico and has a bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico’s Cayey Campus. He was admitted by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico to practice law in 1996.
